Getting to know you

Hello again friends. We are really enjoying getting to know you better. Here are the answers to your questions. Some of our friends were not here to answer.

Adele- I attended a Jewish School in New York.

Monia-I also attended a Jewish School, but in Detroit. I remember I had a good friend named Mary.

Shirley- I attended Hazeldell Elementary School. I remember being an average student.

Sandra- Miles Standish and Doan for Elementary. The best thing about elementary school for me was meeting my friend Fernette, who I am still blessed with today.

Harriet- I love to play the game Maj Jongg with my friends in my apartment building. I host the game each week. It's a game you play with tiles. I attended Hazeldell School. I had very good grades throughout school. I also have a dear friend Ethel, whom I met in elementary school.

Richard-I went to school in Vienna! When I came to the United States, I opened a carpet business that my son's now run.

Millie- I went to school in New York. It was named PS-64. The schools there are all numbered. The PS stands for public school.

Ann-I grew up with African Americans. I attended John Burrells School, and I had to take two buses to get there.

Delbert- I attended Watts Elementary in Chester, PA. I had pretty good grades, and I went on to become a teacher!

Dorothy- I attended Lincoln Elementary in North Carolina. I remember my favorite teacher was Mrs. Gibson.

As a group, we are really enjoying getting to know you better, and we like answering your questions. Can't wait for the next batch.

Hello Intergenerational School

Thanks for your introductions. You all sound like wonderful kids, with interesting lives. Here's a little about our group, Club Mandel at the Menorah Park Adult Day Center.

Millie-I love to draw, work puzzles (all types), and meet new friends. I love lobster and cheesecake, and also I enjoy going on gambling excursions!

Patricia-I love poetry, and I used to be the secretary for the Superintendent of Cleveland Schools. I also really enjoy interior design and travel. I also like lobster and cheesecake!

Mary T.- Like to be with people, loves shopping and traveling to different places.

Shirley-Like people, loves diamonds, and finds herself easy to please.

Monia- Loves to visit her son in Detroit, loves her grandchildren who are your age. She's looking forward to attending her granddaughter's wedding in Texas this Spring.

Beatrice- Enjoys being around people, and her favorite thing to do is read her bible. She also loves to sew when her arthritis isn't bothering her.

Zelmar- Loves to help others, loves crossword puzzles because he is very good at them!

Ann- Loves to be around people and help them if he can. She also loves to read, snack, and help others if she can.

Adele- Loved her job in real estate! She loves to read, exercise, and travel. Her favorite place to visit is Israel.

Richard- Like to gamble, loves math, and owns his own carpet business with his sons.

Dorothy- Loves Kenny Chesney music and is looking forward to see his next concert in Cleveland.

Sandra- Enjoys drawing and working with small children.

Harriet- Likes to be with people, tries to stay positive, she plays Mah Jongg, and likes to gamble.

Del- Enjoys reading, wanted to go to law school, and really enjoys the activities at the day center.

Hi my name is Nakia D. and I like to draw. I'm from The Intergenerational School. I would like to be an artist when I grow up. I love my family. I love to dance and sing and do different things like get on the computer. I really love to type. I love going to Nursing Homes all the times! I'm only 9 years old and I'm in the 4th grade. I'm a traveling girl I really like going to the Zoo and Cedar Point. I love all the rides. I love to make string bracelets and headbands and rings and ankle bracelets. I love TIS (The Intergenerational School!) because they have good teachers and good learning there. I have 100 family members. Elementary School

Dear Beatrice, It is nice to meet you Beatrice. My name is Nakia. I love sewing too, but I love making necklaces, bracelets, headbands, rings, key chains, and bookmarks out of string. I am very creative when it comes to art I want to be a artist when I grow up! I love when no one is around when I'm real busy, because when I'm busy I get mad because my sister bugs me. Hello Zelmar! I love to do crossword puzzles too. I like to do crossword puzzles because their challenging and I love challenging things especially crossword puzzles. They’re my favorite to do on my spare time. When ever I have enough money I buy as many crossword puzzles as I can and do as many as I can before I go to bed. Really that’s the only thing I like to do. T.I.S is the school that I go to it really benefits me compared to my other schools. The only reason I say this is because I went to a public school and I didn't learn much but when I came here I learn more than I expect so it helps me a lot. What was your school like?
